Dear HDIP users, we are very excited to announce the arrival of update v1.3.0. The installers for this new version will become available next week. This new version of HDIP is a faster, better, and more capable version of HDIP than ever before. The largest change in this update is a complete overhaul in the way the project is stored and edited. Projects are still stored in HDF5 files, but the project is now loaded as a virtual project when you open it. This means you are free to edit and delete parts of your project within HDIP. This approach overcomes a lot of the problems associated with projects becoming corrupt by accidental crashes. It also means that projects have to be saved, and that changes in the projects are not automatically flushed to the file. There is no need to worry about this aspect, as HDIP will ask you to save any changes you made in the project. Your old project files from HDIP v1.2.6 and earlier will be automatically converted in the new project format when you open them in this new version of HDIP v1.3.0. It should be noted that these new projects will not open in the older versions of HDIP. Because the entire project is loaded from the hard drive every time the project is opened, it is beneficial to have the data stored on low-latency flash storage, as opposed to mechanical hard drives over the network. More information on the new features in version 1.3.0 can be found in the manual.
